Swarthmore College
США
Добавлен 20 авг 2008
Swarthmore College, a highly selective college of liberal arts and engineering, celebrates the life of the mind. Since its founding in 1864, Swarthmore has given students of uncommon intellectual ability the knowledge, insight, skills, and experience to become leaders for the common good. The College is private, yet open to all regardless of financial need.
A student/faculty ratio of 8:1 ensures that students have close, meaningful engagement with their professors. The College's Honors program features small groups of students working closely with faculty; an emphasis on independent learning; students entering into a dialogue with peers, teachers, and examiners; a demanding program of study in major and minor fields; and an examination at the end of two years' study by outside scholars.
Located 11 miles southwest of Philadelphia, Swarthmore's idyllic, 425-acre campus is a designated arboretum.

Celebrating Chester Children's Chorus's 30th Anniversary
Beginning with just seven boys from one elementary school in Chester, PA, the Chester Children's Chorus has provided year-round music and math education to 1,000 children from every elementary school in the city. The program is at no cost to families and is held in the former Pittenger Gym on campus. Celebrate the vision of CCC Executive & Artistic Director Dr. John Alston (and former Swarthmore College Associate Music Professor) in this anniversary video made possible by the Pincus Family Foundation. Richard's support of the Swarthmore LGBTQ+ community over many years has been incredible!
Sex-selection abortion shows the humanity of the child. Unborn babies have gender, ethnicity, hair and eye color, and countless other traits from the moment of conception. Abortion is murder. And for any woman who has experienced an abortion, forgiveness is available from God. Organizations will help you too.
Learn to laugh at your problems. Everybody else does!!
I like the first one!❤ congratulations to all graduates! Life is full of surprise!
SORTIFY 🗣🔥💯‼️
Great to see it open, spectacular view. It was a more fraught climb in the 70's.
As of 2024, Mr. Harris Kornstein is teaching an Antisemitic Death Chant to young children during his Drag readings to young children at a library in AZ. In his Drag persona as 'Lil Miss Hot Mess" Harris is knowingly teaching Pro-Hamas death chants to kids and some parents are outraged. Mr. Harris obviously has no understanding about what happens to Gay people, Trans people and to Drag performers under Sharia Laws in Palestine under Hamas and in Iran and in Iraq and in many of the Islamic countries that enforce oppressive Sharia Laws on anyone who is LGT . It's ironic that Mr. Harris poses as a University asst. professor and yet does not know this background information about the harmful things he is teaching to kids.
team rush!!! 🔥
Oh wow they had two black females it all makes sense now
I wonder if they told her to speak bc of her merit or because of her gender and race ??mmmm im kinda leaning on the whole race card what a woke town
Yes, she looks like Pepe the frog, but she’s a hate symbol too.
It's a beautiful place and I used to go there all the time and bought my son and his friends there when they were kids . Very magical and I wish you had shown more of it by walking around . I can't believe how many people don't know about this lovely Hidden Gem that is a real haven of tranquility . And then on the other end of the campus is the Rose Garden and the little Conservatory building with the pond behind it what a lovely little area ... again it's very magical .
Admin are a bunch of cowards
Wow! Just wow!
No footage of the Gaza solidarity encampment?
Will you also be posting footage of the Dash for Cash? ;-) (Do they still have that?)
I love this!!
also do u guys still invest in arms manufacturers and prisons or whats the vibe
does swarthmore still profile muslim students on campus or is that like a 2023 thing just wondering
thank you❤i hope swarthmore doesn't punish students for pro-palestinian speech anymore like they did last semester 🫶🏻❤
Thank you very much!
As an oldtimer, it makes me happy that I can recognize the old building. Love the updates!
from cozy to shareholder-approved, she is serving corporate realness.
Cool place really!!🥰🥰
I would've liked to think that Swarthmore students care enough about effective communication, and conveying an impression of intelligence and sophistication, not to become plagued with the verbal tic of saying "like" practically every other word. The new Sharples does look cool.
ok boomer
@@Gidonka1 Sorry, Gen Xer here. Oh, and 2019 called; it wants its lame catchphrase back.
@@rloomis3the 80's called; they want their "X Called; They Want Their Y Back" catchphrase. I do think it's silly of you as a 40-something to nitpick the speech pattern of undergrads, However I must commend you on your correct usage of the semicolon which is rare to see these days.
@@Gidonka1 _"the 80's called;"_ Someone needs to brush up on their irony detection. _"you as a 40-something"_ 50-something, actually. (The oldest millennials are already in their 40s.) Since you appreciate effective use of a semicolon, it's apparent that language matters to you on some level. It does to me as well - as does Swarthmore College. College students can be overconfident in their intellectual prowess (I know: I used to be one), and can be oblivious to how certain habits can create negative impressions in others. I think that pointing these issues out to them should be part of their education, and their development into adults ready to face the next phases of their lives. I can't help but be distracted by verbal "pollutants" such as the constant use of "like," and since I want to see these students make a positive difference in the world, representing their alma mater well as they do so, I felt compelled to take this opportunity to draw attention to what I see as an undesirable habit. I should clarify that I don't think college-aged individuals are the only ones plagued by irritating speech patterns - far from it. I am regularly dismayed by "contributors" I hear on NPR, for example; these people may be excellent journalists in the written media, but I wish the staff in charge of booking guests would keep in mind that radio is an _aural_ medium, and it might be worth seeking out reporters and "experts" who can manage to utter a sentence without lapsing into "likes," "y'knows," or the insipid "right?" (a particular pet peeve of mine).
@@rloomis3if you have enough knowledge about the fact that people’s intellectual capacities are not accurately assessed by superfluous interjections which buy them time to think, then you have enough reason to be more forgiving about how you judge people who speak like that. Especially if you find it to be a more regular occurrence now. As you note, excellent capacities in writing aren’t sufficient for being a gifted speaker with quick and clear speech. But it’s a really bad idea to make the decision of who to invite as a speaker on radio or lectures based on their eloquence. What about people with speech impediments who have worthwhile things to say? Perhaps it’s a ‘preference’ of yours, but there are people out there who similarly look down on people with lisps or some other atypical speech pattern, calling the sound grating or deriding it in some way. No one benefits from being shamed for the way they speak, especially when listeners have no actual trouble figuring out what someone is saying. The shaming only stands to give more standing to people who are orally persuasive, when you could be doing your part to shift the culture to be more interested in the content of people’s speech. Just my opinion ;)
Why choose swarthmore? Ans= because they play hard to get and i am masochistic
All those people, but only one Albert.
Grateful for you Great-Great Aunt Kathryn ❤
Do they still have the Screw Your Roommate Dance?
Yep! Screw Your Roommate is still a Swarthmore tradition!
